We have noticed one of the questions that pops up quite a bit is, "How Much Does a New Roof Cost in Austin?".  Realtors get this question all the time!  That is one of many reasons we developed a free roofing calculator app.  It takes about 2 minutes to enter the information and click on the picture boxes, then it populates a list of 3 roofing options.  The options are as follows.

Basic Shingle - Good

25-year shingles, come with a 25-year prorated limited warranty and are available in a variety of colors. These shingles have a 65-mph wind rating. Also known as 3-tabs these are the more economical choice for asphalt shingle roofing systems. Manufacturers include Owens Corning, GAF & CertainTeed. We provide a 5-year labor warranty.

50-Year Shingle - Better

HDZ / Laminate / Architectural / Dimensional / Lifetime Shingles come with a limited lifetime warranty on material and are available in a variety of designer colors. These shingles have a 130-mph wind rating. This roof system qualifies for a GAF / Owens Corning / CertainTeed 50-Year Warranty. The Golden Pledge 50-Year Warranty by GAF includes a 25-Year Labor Warranty aka Free Leak Repairs should one arise within those 25-Years.

Standing Seam Metal - Best

24-Gauge Standing Seam Snap-Lock Metal Roofs have up to a 40-Year Limited Paint Warranty and come in a variety of designer colors. Galvalume color carries a 20-Year Material Warranty, non-prorated, which protects the full roof value for up to 20 years. These panels have a 140-mph wind rating. This roofing system qualifies for a home insurance discount up to 20% with it's Class 4 Impact Resistance Rating. Metal is recyclable & panels contain about 30% recycled content from pre-consumer & post-consumer use. We provide a 10-Year Labor Warranty.

These are the main roof types that you will see on 90% of the houses in the Central Texas area.  We do replace tile roofs even though there was not an instant quote for them.  Tile roofs are very custom and each one needs an onsite inspection for the replacement estimate.

So after you look at the quotes and pick which one works best for you, we will meet you at your property to do an in person inspection to make sure we are not missing anything.  This will also be a good time to pick material colors and upgrades like gutters or solar vents.

Why Your Roof Needs More Than Just a Shingle
Learn About Roof Valleys on Shingle Roofs by Austin Roofing and Construction
By Christine+Bowen October 29, 2025
When rain hits your roof, it doesn’t just slide straight down. Instead it follows the natural channels formed where two roof planes meet. Those intersections are called roof valleys, and they’re one of the most important (and most leak-prone) parts of any roofing system. A properly designed and installed valley ensures water flows off your roof quickly and efficiently.

When it comes to protecting your home from water damage, roof flashing is one of the smallest yet most important parts of your roofing system. While shingles and underlayment do the heavy lifting against rain and wind, flashing is what keeps water from sneaking in through the cracks — especially around roof penetrations and edges.
